Lose Bad Habits To Turn Your Life Around
It would appear that humans are creatures are habit. We all tend to follow the same routine day in and day out.
Unfortunately we keep following these routines and familiar patterns of daily living even when they are not working to our advantage.
If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging
Of course the other thing is a lot of these bad habits might be learned behavior. We see the things our parents did, even when it didn’t work for them, and we end up doing the same thing.
So you have your comfort zone. Your comfort zone is an artificial mental boundary within which you maintain a sense of security and out of which you experience great discomfort.
And this is the very place that has gotten you into the mess your in.
You have a mountain of debt that you can’t get out from under.
Your relationships have suffered.
You are out of shape.
You are stuck in a job you feel like killing yourself over.
You feel stuck in life.
So how do you turn things around and break out of your comfort zone?
You have to start doing the opposite of what you have always done.
Look, what you have done up to now isn’t really working. You probably kind of know this. Well now I’m telling you.
We should not really have to repeat your mistakes until we learn from them.
Start to do the opposite.
Get up tomorrow and eat breakfast.
Go for a walk.
Get rid of all your useless stuff.
Get rid of your cable.
Join a club or hobby group.
Track your spending for a few weeks.
Pay only cash for everything.
Stop spending on useless crap.
Ask for transfer and move to a new city.
Quit your job.
Learn a new language.
Follow your passion.
Smile and start to say hello to people.
Bike to work.
Read a book.
You do have to live boldly and take a few risks. Calculated risks maybe to start. That’s okay. It will snowball.
Stop making excuses and start making improvements.
I chose a minimalist lifestyle. The way I was living wasn’t working. I had to flip my life on it’s head. Do the opposite. I still have to engage in some positive self talk to help myself in some areas. But things are great.
Expanding your comfort zone is a matter of choice. Choose to do the opposite, feel a bit uncomfortable and watch how things turn around.
