Hockey is big news here in Canada. I certainly enjoy hockey myself. Every year at Christmas time there is a world tournament of junior hockey players. This would be 17 and 18 year old players. Country against country.
Well at this years tournament the Canadian team made it to the gold medal game against the Russian team. The Canadians took a 3-0 lead into the 3rd period. And then the wheels fell off and they ended up losing the game 5-3.
There was much fallout here in Canada. How could this happen? Blah, blah, blah. Others were claiming to still be proud to be Canadian despite such a defeat.
Are you kidding me?
It is a meaningless hockey game. Yes it is entertaining. But proud to be Canadian? Good grief.
There are more meaningful events that would make proud to be Canadian. Waking up for one.
There are people right here in this town that I live in who probably do not have food or money for rent. And people are upset about a hockey game as if it makes a real difference in the life of anyone.
My life stays exactly the same whether they win that game or not.
There are much more important things to deal with.
