Well it has been a long time since I have posted. But this story certainly deserves a blog post. Hell it needs national media attention!

There is a local business here in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia that is tapping into the “trash to treasure” niche. And it is awesome. The rock star owner of this local vintage repurposed furniture(and much more!) business is Karen Peterson. The vision and talent that this woman has is nothing short of amazing.

How amazing is that! I mean come on!

We need more shops like this. We need less Wal-Mart mass produced garbage. There is so much cool stuff out there waiting to be discovered. It has a story. It has been touched and loved and cared for. Sure maybe some of this furniture or the picture frames or whatever has seen better days, but a lot of the time it can be brought back to life.

Think about how much better you would feel purchasing something like this as opposed to items that are mass produced.

It seems to me to make so much more sense from a minimalist lifestyle point of view. Have quality items that have meaning.

Why Buy Repurposed Furniture?

Using refurbished furniture is definitely a positive idea to consider for improving your economic situation. Many people prefer the old vintage stuff instead of the new, expensive ones, so repurposing is a great way to make your house to look extremely interesting. Through repurposing, people can combine vintage with modern, and create something out of something else, that really suits them, something only based on their personality. Repurposing makes everything easier: people don’t have to spend a lot on it; we all know that money don’t necessary buy happiness, but repurposing will make you happy for sure!

Karen is also selling other locally produced goods, like soy and beeswax candles, shower and bath soaps and much more. Chances are there is a shop like this in your local area and you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Notice the old rake in the upper right corner that has been repurposed into a wine glass holder!
