Do you ever feel like life is just flying by? I sure do. I will be 43 in a few weeks. Tyler will be 16 in January. 16!! Man time sure seems to go by quickly.

And then I start wondering about what I am doing with my life. It is pretty safe these days. What I mean by that is I am not too adventurous. Go to work, come home, repeat.

Life is for living. Not for sitting around. It is okay to take a chance or two.

Where is this coming from?

My mom has 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Well one of her brothers that she is quite close with has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He has been told to go home and enjoy his last Christmas with his family.

One of his sons just moved home from British Columbia with his young family so they could be closer to the grandparents.

You just don’t know what kind of screwed up curve balls life is going to throw your way.

Live in the moment and enjoy your family and friends. Appreciate all that you have. Yes it can be hard to remember this at times, I know.

But we are all going to go. Some of us sooner than others. And then we are gone. This is not a dress rehearsal.

Go for it.
Live with intention.
Walk to the edge.
Listen hard.
Practice wellness.
Play with abandon.
Choose with no regret.
Continue to learn.
Appreciate your friends.
Do what you love.
Live as if this is all there is.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Please share them in the comments.

  1. Very nice reflection, and we couldn’t agree more. It’s funny, “this is no dress rehearsal” are the exact words that set us on our journey about three years ago. At 46 (Mike) and 36 (me), we gave up conventional comforts, executive careers and everything we owned minus two North Face bags filled with our essential clothing and gear. Three months ago we set out to live, love and learn. Since then, we’ve been to Puerto Rico, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ireland, Sweden, Italy and London. We journal our life, one kiss at a time, on because in the end, what more is there to do but live, love and learn. So as I said, we couldn’t agree more. Get out of debt. Spend less. Live big, kiss often!
