Steps Towards a Life of Less

A Life of Less

When my grandparents were young, none of the appliances (let alone hi-tech gadgets) in our homes were in common use — not the refrigerator, electric stove, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, toaster, television, computer, air-conditioner, microwave, etc.

None of it. They had cars, but they walked far more often than we do today. They had telephones, but not cell phones or iPhones, and they weren’t using phones all the time. They had stores, but they didn’t order things online and they didn’t buy all the time. IN-SHADOW: A Modern Odyssey Is Dark and Brilliant

Change The Code

Lubomir Arsov’s groundbreaking short film IN-SHADOW: A Modern Odyssey poses a number of questions through an epic quest into the darkness of Western civilization.

At 13 minutes long, this gorgeously illustrated film embarks on a journey of exploration into the human psyche, bringing society’s dark underbelly to the surface.

If a purpose of art is to “disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed,” as Cesar Cruz once observed, this film is an undeniable masterpiece.

IN-SHADOW: A Modern Odyssey removes the masks people wear to reveal the deeper truth at the heart of Western society’s deepest issues: at our core, we are all human. We have complex emotional and psychological needs that we push to the side to assimilate to a faceless system that caters to a profit-obsessed, unlimited-growth economy.

I encourage to take a look and enjoy.
